DoT Aquatic Use Review

The Department of Transport (DOT) announced on 22 March 2016 that it will implement a new Closed Waters – Motorised Vessels (CWMV) zone the entire length of South Beach and extending 125 metres from shore as part of the outcome of its latest Aquatic Use Review (AUR).

While the Save Freo Beaches committee has not yet met to discuss the full ramifications of the AUR, we note that the proposal for a 30 metre vessel access onto the beach has been rejected in the final plan – that is unequivocally good news!

Thank you to all the volunteers and the entire South Beach community and visitors who worked tirelessly, encouraged us, and showed their support – together, we’ve protected the amenity of our beautiful beach.

Please watch this space – and keep an eye on our Facebook page – as we keep you updated!
